When we realized what the words ‘Spica Cast’ meant and what it would entail…immediately we wondered about diaper changes. We were given great examples of this in the hospital and without creating my own video, this video is great on walking you through the steps.
My suggestion is for the inside diaper, use the normal size your child was in before surgery. Since your child’s wet diapers aren’t going to reduce just because of the cast, it’s important to have the right size to ensure there are no accidents.
The exterior diaper will definitely be at least one size bigger than the interior, if not two sizes. You’ll be able to tell once the child is in the cast to determine how big the exterior one will need to be.
